The International Experience

Chicago, Montreal and Toronto (7 days, 6 nights)

Experience some of North America’s most exciting cities with a circle trip traveling from Chicago to Montreal, Toronto and back to Chicago.

Day 1 and 2: Settle in and relax with an early evening boarding in Chicago as we travel on Amtrak’s Lake Shore Limited overnight to Albany, NY. We enjoy Hors d’oeuvres and cocktails as we depart at 7:10pm and we arrive in Albany, NY at 11:55am the next day. Enjoy the remainder of the day seeing Albany, the capital of New York State as we overnight there.

Day 3: This morning the car is added to Amtrak’s Adirondack for our daylight trip from Albany, NY to Montreal. The Adirondack is rated in the Top 10 of the World’s Best Railroad Trips by National Geographic Traveler. The scenery is simply spectacular and even better from the dome. We arrive in Montreal’s Central Station in the evening at 7:30 PM to begin your stay to experience French Canada. Central Station is located in the heart of downtown Montreal. Montreal boasts many superb attractions, restaurants and historic buildings, all within walking distance of Central Station. Visit Old Montreal and Old Port, the birthplace of Montreal in 1642. In Montreal, fine food is one of life’s delights, with more than 4,000 restaurants serving up the national cuisine of some 80 countries.

Day 4: Enjoy a full day in Montreal, the second largest French speaking city in the world, with all the old world charms, including historic buildings over 350 years old from the days of the French occupation of North America. The finest of restaurants, a European style casino, fantastic entertainment and the flavor of Europe make Montreal a sparkling destination. This trip is a favorite in late autumn, when you can enjoy the spectacular colors of fall foliage.

Day 5: We depart Montreal and head for a trip to Toronto on Via Rail Canada. We arrive in Toronto, Canada’s largest city. We recommend overnight accommodations at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel located across the street from Union Station. This gives you the city at your doorstep. Whether it’s art, fine-dining, museums or sight-seeing, it’s all available and easily accessible in this very friendly city.

Day 6: Spend the day in this great city. Toronto is the largest city in Canada and what many call the World’s Best-Kept Travel Secret. Often called “The World Within a City”, Toronto is a city that holds all the wonders of the world in one clean, safe, friendly place: a theatre scene rivaled only by London and New York, more than 80 cultures from across the globe, attractions that range from high art to rowdy family fun, and polished services for business travelers. What could make that better? How about packing many of our most popular attractions within walking distance of each other. In downtown Toronto, a short stroll is all it takes to travel between thousands of hotel rooms, great sports venues, the CN Tower, major convention centers, endless shopping (try the Underground City 6 miles of connected paths to over 1,200 shops and restaurants), top theatre, the waterfront, and global inspired cuisine.

Day 7: We depart Toronto the last for our final day and 502 miles of travel on the VIA/Amtak International with arrival this evening in Chicago, IL to complete our trip. The chef has again prepared a fantastic bill of fare for today’s selections.

This trip is a favorite in late autumn, when you can enjoy the spectacular colors of fall foliage.Trip also operates with reverse itinerary. We suggest overnight accommodations in Montreal and Toronto at the Canadian Pacific Fairmont Hotels—the Queen Elizabeth and Royal York, respectively.
